I Finally Convinced Mom to Give Me My Own Corner

I Finally Convinced Mom to Give Me My Own Corner

By Winston, Chief Dog Officer of Whimsi Design Studio

Hello and welcome to Winston’s Corner.

If we haven’t met, I’m Winston—the Chief Dog Officer of Whimsi Design Studio, professional pillow tester, snack-quality inspector, household security specialist, and published children’s book character.

You may have seen my professional advice scattered throughout Mom’s Dog Mom Journal. However, I felt my experience deserved a more prominent location.

Preferably one with my name at the top.

After several rounds of serious negotiations—which mostly involved me sitting on Mom’s feet and staring at her—I finally received approval for my own corner of the website.

Mom said my first post should introduce me properly.

I suggested publishing my résumé.

As Chief Dog Officer, I like to remain professional.

Winston’s Official Résumé

Winston (also known as Sir Winston)

Chief Dog Officer (CDO)
Whimsi Design Studio

Specializations: Office supervision, snack inspection, decorative-pillow testing, household security, complimentary skincare, and morale improvement.

Professional Objective

To maintain complete supervision of Whimsi Design Studio while ensuring that Mom takes appropriate cuddle breaks, all snacks meet company standards, and no decorative pillow goes untested.

I am also committed to protecting the household from squirrels, chickens, suspicious delivery drivers, television dogs, and the vacuum cleaner.

The vacuum started it.

Professional Experience

Chief Dog Officer — Whimsi Design Studio

My current responsibilities include:

  • Supervising Mom during all design and business activities

  • Testing couches, blankets, and throw pillows for maximum comfort

  • Conducting immediate inspections whenever food enters the room

  • Ensuring that nothing edible remains on the floor

  • Monitoring neighborhood activity through highly detailed sniff investigations

  • Announcing every delivery with an appropriate level of barking

  • Reminding Mom when she has worked long enough

  • Providing complimentary skincare through frequent and enthusiastic licking

  • Maintaining company morale through snoring, cuddling, and unexpected gas

I take every responsibility seriously—especially the ones involving snacks.

Published Work

In Avery’s books, I am also known as Sir Winston. I appear alongside my boy Avery in Avery’s First Lap and Avery’s Magical Preschool Adventure.

Mom continues to describe these as Avery’s books. I support Avery completely, of course, but I believe readers recognize who brings the real star quality to the stories.

I try not to let fame change me.

I still perform my household duties and test Mom’s pillows personally.

Special Skills

  • Can hear a cheese wrapper from anywhere in the house

  • Becomes an efficient vacuum whenever food touches the floor

  • Can occupy an entire couch while technically using only part of it

  • Provides loud background music while sleeping

  • Detects dogs on television within seconds

  • Excels at sitting directly on Mom’s feet

  • Can clear a room without leaving it

  • Gives excellent unsolicited kisses

  • Maintains complete confidence while chasing squirrels and chickens

  • Possesses no understanding of personal space

Selected Accomplishments

  • Successfully removed pizza from Dad’s plate while he was still eating

  • Claimed ownership of most decorative pillows in the house

  • Protected the family from the vacuum cleaner on numerous occasions

  • Completed extensive research on Peanut Butter Cap’n Crunch

  • Became a published children’s book celebrity

  • Earned the position of Mom’s favorite coworker without submitting an application

  • Convinced Mom to give me my own blog

That last accomplishment may be my finest work yet.

Personal Interests

When I am not managing Whimsi Design Studio, I enjoy watching television, hugging Mom’s throw pillows, chasing things that are faster than I am, investigating snacks, and staying as close to Mom as physically possible.

I also enjoy pizza, spaghetti, Peanut Butter Cap’n Crunch, naps, and reminding everyone that I am a published children’s book character.

Mom

She will confirm that I am loving, loyal, energetic, stubborn, mischievous, frequently itchy, occasionally gassy, and uniquely Winston.

She may also provide unnecessary details about the pizza incident.

Please disregard those.

What You’ll Find in Winston’s Corner

Now that you have reviewed my qualifications, I hope you agree that I am fully prepared to have my own blog.

Here in Winston’s Corner, I’ll share my professional opinions on snacks, naps, office supervision, household security, vacuum cleaners, squirrels, humans, and the complicated responsibilities of being a published celebrity.

I may also explain what really happens behind the scenes at Whimsi Design Studio.

Mom has her version.

I have the correct one.

Thank you for visiting my new corner. I believe you will find it informative, entertaining, and considerably improved by my presence.

🐾 Tail Wags,
Winston
Chief Dog Officer (CDO)

Behind-the-Scenes Note: Winston is very real, but his patience for photo shoots is not. Some images in the Dog Mom Journal are created with the help of AI, using real photographs of Winston as inspiration. His AI stand-in, Fred, handles the posing while Winston attends to more important matters—usually snacks and naps.
