It's easy to feel like we always need to be doing something.

Running errands.

Checking off another task.

Crossing another item off the list.

But rainy days quietly give us permission to slow down.

To read another chapter.

Watch a favorite movie.

Take an afternoon nap.

Or simply enjoy the comforting presence of the dog curled up beside us.

Rain doesn't seem to bother Winston...

Until it's time to go outside.

The moment he realizes it's raining, he'll stand at the back door and look at me like he's hoping I can somehow make the weather stop.

Sometimes he'll take one careful step onto the porch...

Decide absolutely not...

And turn right back around to his favorite blanket.

Apparently, puddles are beneath the Chief Dog Officer.

Cozy Isn't a Place—It's a Feeling

Some of my favorite memories aren't tied to vacations or big events.

They're the quiet afternoons when the house feels peaceful.

The rain taps gently against the windows.

The coffee stays warm a little longer.

And Winston is snoring loudly enough to become the soundtrack for the afternoon.

Those are the moments that quietly become some of life's greatest gifts.
